I, er, bought a Crate...
... but there's a method to my madness. It's the Powerblock and it was down from £200 to £50. I figured it's worth £50 for a 150w power amp to tide me over between selling my rack poweramps and getting my Orange Thunderverb. Besides, I'm only using it as a poweramp, so it can't sound that bad.

![]() Apparently their not too bad actually. A guitarist in a band I know did a gig with one of those and a korg toneworks pedal when his marshall JCM blew, and he said it sounded OK! It think theyre a pretty good concept to be honest. I wouldn't buy one though ![]() |

That thing doesn't sound bad at all!
![]() The preamp section isn't super, but the power amp section is clean, neutral, and loud. What more could you ask from a SS power amp? I think it's fucking terrific.

That's what I'm hoping Bob, it should be here today. Besides, it was £50, you pay more than that for a pickup here.

That's a pretty great deal, and should be a good backup rig if you use a modeler. Actually, one of these plus a 1x12 closed-back cab would make a killer mini-rig if you use a floorboard modeler.

Sound Control, James?
Cos they are selling the Orange Tiny Terror for something approaching that. At least, thats what my mate said to me, but he works there. ![]() Good score either way, £50 for a new 150W amp isn't shabby at all. ![]() |

i've actually got the crate practice amp with the same pre amp as the power block & it's not too bad, obviously it's not as good as some higher priced practice amps but it serves me well enough for working out new ideas.
Anyway £50 is a bloody bargain nuff said. |
