That was my same thought after their set. I said to my guitar player buddy, "I'd never use those even if they were free!"

My personal opinion is steer clear of it. BBE sells well due to the psycho-acoustic effect. You hear the original tone, pop on the BBE, then when you turn it off things sound flatter. It's all false perception. The human ear tends to commonly prefer the brighter of two sounds when A/B'd. It's just cause after hearing something bright going back to the original appears duller. As others have mentioned already in this thread, it sounds great at first but then grows old really quick.

Now, others claim it's wonderful and I'm not saying they're not correct. Maybe for their setups the BBE filled a missing gap in the sound or whatnot. It's just my personal experience they most sound like hyped up treble EQ's. Just my 2 cents.

what tubes are you using in your boogie? on the seven string i play in Ab or dropped A a half step down. i am trying to keep somewhat of a less bassy more mid scooped or crunch type tone that cuts. a mesa cuts with no problem. i just have had bad luck dialing out the excess bass or low end and getting it to cut tight like i want. not tight but more of a crunch type scooped tone.

I use vintage 30's and cl80's in an x pattern in my cab. and i use delays in the loop and a crybaby from hell and a maxon rod 880 upfront. i have a ge-7 but it doesn't do the job i want it to do. so i am going to switch to el34's instead of the 6l6's

Hey,

The 27th is a no go, I'll be in DC on that day so I can't make it. But Wooley Bulleys might be doable. Maybe some of the other guys that are fairly close like Leon and Dark Work might come down to.

I have Mesa tubes in my Triple. For a cab I'm using a B52 AT412:

Believe it or not the cab sounds awesome. But, let me note I haven't used the BBE with my Mesa. I have however used a BBE rack unit (BBE 482) with a couple of Marshall's, Crate's, and Randall's and felt the same about the sound applied to each one.

If you ever came to one of our shows, you'd know I have great taste in guitar tone. Just ask Leon or the Division boys.

And yet you don't like Loomis' tone?

I think Avalanche's cuteness is messing with your thought processes.
