Dual Rectifier - channel change noise

Just curious. When I change channels on my Dual Rectifier there's a weird sound that sort of pops from the speaker when the channel changes. Any idea what to do about that?

Happened to me. You probably have a busted tube. I did and when I replaced it, the channel changing pop disappeared for good.

maybe not a busted one, as that would cause a lot of other problems too, but worn out tubes could definitely be the culprit if what you say is true.

Look into a full power and pre-amp re-tube. Fresh tubes are nice. I just did mine a couple months ago. (Just not a dual rec)

Mine popped even after new tubes. It's a pretty common issue, and pretty much normal.

Yea I'd say it's common. I've had it happen on all my amps, 5150, Classic 50, Dual Rect, but it wouldn't be too nice to hear when you're on a stage.

I can imagine. My Dual Rec popped pretty loud even at low volumes.

I also permanently leave out the 3 power tubes and strictly use the silicone diodes. I live only 20 mins from Mesa so I took it in and had a complete retube done and the pop is no longer present since. I hated it. I thought it was the actual channel switcher itself. The guys at Guitar Center furthered my belief that it was the actual channel switch itself but after realizing I had a bad tube I took it in to Mesa, had a complete rundown and retube and gone.

The loud pop only happens on the first channel change apparently. That's not too bad. There's a slight click after that. Someone said that's just how Mesas work.
