Peavey 3120 Volume Problem

It appears when i have my FX loop turned off the volume on my Peavey 3120 only gets to about 40% of its potential volume levels, however when the FX loop is turned on the volume is boosted very significantly (60% boost)

Is there a feature / setting i do not have set correctly or is the amp defective?

Weird thing is on the Green Channel (clean, there is only a minor volume difference, however on the lead channels its huge)

At what level are your send and return knobs? People have used the effects loop as a volume boost for solos since the XXX came out!

both of them are maxed out to 100%, is that the issue?

turn the return knob down till it matches the volume with the loop off. Keep send dimed!

Yeah dimed = as high as it will go.

Yea, turn it down and I think they are supposed to be opposite each other for the quietest operation. For example send on 4 and return on 6. I think..................................
