Recently completed live rig for gigging with my metal band:
![]() ![]() Inevitable blinky lights shot: ![]() Gratuitous gear shots: ![]() ![]() As well as giving me one-button switching for all my patches, including pedals, this rig also cuts my setup time in half. The entire rig runs off of one power cable, the only thing going from the rig to the front of the stage is a MIDI cable, and the ground control is running on phantom power so no power supply needed up front. All the cabling involved fits in the bottom rack space too. Good times

Cheers guys!! Glad you like
![]() Yup, Vigier Excalibur Special. I made a NGD for it about a month ago: http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/sta...ml#post1669538 A few tips for anyone thinking of going rack, buy all the rack gear first BEFORE you buy the rack itself!! That includes cabling, power supplies, transformers, shelves/drawers etc. That way you can work out exactly what size rack you need, 4U of rack gear could easily require a 6U or 8U rack case. I can also highly recommend George L's cables, the entire rig is wired with them. Well worth the high price, they also do skinny cable for rack/pedalboards and thicker, stronger cable for longer lengths. |

Close, RG16 by the same company. Its the same deal as the Amp Gizmo but also has 8 loops for pedals/rack processors so this way I have presets of different amp channels, pedal combinations and GMajor2 presets all controlled with the Ground Control. Definitely recommend the RG16, great gadget!!

I wanted to do that configuration with my Roadster that i had at the time.. But wanted to have a G system to control the Channels and provide the added effects.

Yeah I was set on buying a G System for about the last year. Problem is it cant change channels on the Roadster; there's not enough relays to use all the channels/functions and each jack needs to be individualy grounded, so using a G System to switch channels could actually damage the Roadster. The fact I needed something like the RG16 or Amp Gizmo to switch channels meant there was no point spending £1k+ on a G System when I could pay £360 for a GMajor2 (same effects, plus more) and about £400 on a separate MIDI foot controller. Having researched it, I definitely prefer this setup to a G System

Oh I see what you mean. Yeah it can switch channels ok (as in the video) but only WITH an Amp Gizmo/RG16. I mean that you shouldnt just try to use the G System's onboard relays with the Mesa's external switching jacks, as THAT could damage the amp.

Totally different tone from each, and they sound great together! The bottom cab is the standard 212 Recto, closed-back with V30. That handles all of my bass response and lower-mids, its got a really tight low end so that does my floor shaking for me
The top cab is a 3/4-back with C90s which is where I get my upper-mids and high-end from. It cuts a LOT better in the mix, I use it with my covers band where I dont need 7-string chunk, just classic rock tones. Then for gigging with my metal band I run both cabs, and I usually mic both of them to be blended at the desk. Best live tone Ive ever had
