Drop-A is on a distinguished road
What effect is this?

At end of every bar in the intro of Zebrahead - Check

It kinda sounds like there's some harmonic overtones added to a regular fretted note. I've been trying to figure out the effect for a long time now, as it's been used alot in modern (pop) rock.

Anybody?
I'll throw in another song which makes use of this effect at the intro.
Skrape - Waste

Surely some of you must know what I'm talking about? O.o

Lern2swim is a jewel in the rough
And it sounds like Zebrahead is scraping a guitar string with a pick or coin or something.

You can get that effect by using only a wah? I've never used one so I wouldn't know, haha. Thanks anyway.

Yeah, the wah filters the frequencies, so you'll hear the harmonic overtones. Plus it also helps using the Bridge pickup and enough gain.
