Option to change screen name?

I don't know if there is a specific reason why we can't change our display name, but I really really don't want this username anymore. I also don't want to make a new account.
(my friend made the account for me and gave the name. I am really not sure why.)

I could see how it could be a problem if people are constantly changing their names, but is there a way a mod could change my name?

if this isn't an option, that's totally fine. I'll deal with my current alias.

Mods cannot change user names. Only Alex can.
