7 String Shredder from Denmark

Hey everyone
I am new to the forum, allow me to introduce myself: I am a 7 string shredder from the northern part of Denmark:hbang: Currently i own a Ibanez UV777P model. My own compositions can be heard at:

So this is how my Ibanez RG 7420 used to look...

Pretty dull, eh? Also, I didn't really dig the sound from the stock pickup on the neck and the Seymour Duncan Invader on the bridge. Something had to be done, so this is how it looks now!

Yes! Nice and green! Thank god I have a friend who works at a car painting shop, he did a wonderful job with this! My other choise would have been yellow, maybe I will do that to my RG2228, my god, what would that look like? Anyways, more pics!

Here is a quick video of me playing to a backing track I made with my computer, some shred stuff just to test out the whole thing! It sounds great IMO, no EMG hate from me, except for the emg808 which truly sounds like shit!

Next I might get a new trem for this as the lo-trs is a piece of junk, also my frets have worn out to some extent, seeing this is a 10 year old guitar so it needs new frets.

How long do your picks last you before they are too worn out?

Hi,

I play Ibanez Plaul Gilbert picks at the moment (I usually change back and forth between these and the JazzIII's/JazzIII Ultez/JazzIII Tortex), and they don't seem to last me very long: I usually have to take a new pick after two weeks or even sooner. When they are too worn out I prefer a new pick.
The regular black jazz III's last me much longer, so do the Tortex Jazz III's, but the Ultex Jazz III's also won't last me any longer than 2 weeks maximum.
And I don't even think I hit the string very hard:scratch:

How long do you play with the same pick until they are too worn out and you need to use a new one? Please also add which pick you are referring to.

What's this guitar worth?

I'm curious what all of you would say this guitar is worth or what kind of coin you would pay for this.

This is NOT a FS ad of any sort, and no I do not own this guitar. I found this online, in mint condition and I'm considering buying it. I want to see what everyone thinks before I name the price it's listed for.

Periphery & AAL in SF

Just got back from this show - awesome!!!

I ended up having nice chats with both Misha and Tosin, and I even got to play Misha's Blackmachine (not the new one, the old one)! Tosin dished a little on his plans for the next album. I will keep that a secret and let him fill the rest of you in if he wants to. I also got to meet Periphery's new singer, Spencer, at the merch stand. Very cool guy! He told me that he had bronchitis and wouldn't be singing. Now I have heard the sample clip on Periphery's Myspace page, and personally I think he's the best singer they've had so far, but as a closet instrumental music freak I have to admit I was thrilled about this!

The sets from both Periphery and AAL were unreal, one of the best shows I've seen in years. And it was an absolutely tiny place, so I got to watch all the shredding fingers up close. And they played Buttersnips! Did I mention it was instrumental?? Hell yeah!:hbang:

Best 7 or 6 string for $1000

I'm in the process of trying to figure out what company to go with for this one. I'm mainly looking for a custom such as a Carvin, I've got to many regular factory guitars.

As of right now, Carvin really seems to be my best bet. I'm only curious of everyone's thoughts on other companies.

If I went with a Carvin 7, it would be a DC727, and if a 6, a Bolt.
The only company catching my interest is EB. I'd love to own a JP6 or JP7.
Although the JP 7's go for like $1500 used, it can be considered.

What are your thoughts.

Again, my budget is around $850-$1100

Open B tuning

Hey Guys,

So it's a few months til I can expect my 28" Agile to get here (dammit), but I'm just wondering if anybody has any experience with open B tuning as I want to sort out what strings to get before it gets here.

When I had my Schecter C-8 I went through hell trying to get the right gauge strings. Found it really difficult to get a set as some strings are tuning up.

Any advice?

Recommend me some jazz/blues/fusion!

I'm looking to diversify my playing a bit...lately I have really been mellowing out and digging Holdsworth, Andy Timmons, BB King and similar artists...anyway, I'd like recommendations for songs to learn. Bonus points if they are 7 string songs. Specific youtube links would assist greatly.

hey guys... i have been playing on these Cepheus pickups since December 3rd (about two months) and im not so sure i like these pickups.... they sound great clean but just awful with distortion... has anyone replaced these before? and with what? if not what do you guys suggest... i dont want to do to much modding to the body.. if any at all.

also its been running through a line 6 spider 2 head and cab... maybe this has a bit to do with it but yea.. my 7 string sounds good tho (well as good as its gonna get on this amp i guess).... also maybe i should add that as soon as i have the money to this will be replaced with an axe-fx ultra and and orange 4x12 and not sure what power amp yet.

my tuning F# standard. and the default agile string gauges..... eh..

I just recorded this. I used ezdrummer basic beats and edited them with the piano keys. It turned out really weird timings so i just went with it. If you guys could listen and critique either one of these (or both!), i would be really grateful. thanks
