Correct, it sold on eBay last year, and Chris9 is the current owner.

Regarding that, since he owns Rusty's old 9-string Conklin, it stands to reason that he should give me his LGM 8-string.

DYin is on a distinguished road
So, what are the three added strings? I'm guessing an extra high A, and extra low B and an extra low F# but that last one could also be an extra high D.

I would love to own a Fanned 9 string. I would use it live at every show hahaha, even if I didn't use all strings! The fucking stage prescience that Evil looking guitar would give somebody is just insane. (Especially if they actually thrashed and headbanged etc.)

No way! Conklins are sexy as hell! I was drooling over this one when it went up for auction

No you're right about the high A. High D isn't physically possible, even with the shorter scale of the high strings. But Garry Goodman's getting close with his strings, last I heard he's reached high C.

As for the tuning on the black Conklin. The reason Rusty Cooley had it made was that when he got his Conklin 8, he was always changing the tuning from a high A for "meedly" shredding to a low F# for "chugguh" riffage. The 9 was ordered so he could leave it alone and have both worlds on one instrument. I had heard that from Rusty himself on a radio interview.

I later read after he had ebayed it that he couldnt play the damn thing. Muting all those strings in a high gain situation must be a whore.
