The werd on Kahler ERG's?

We had a longish thread in here about the new Kaher ERG/fanned whammies, early this year IRRC..

Haven't seen/herd much to the use of those in a good while..
The HALO 10 string thread mentioned at least the non-fanned version.
Anyone have actual experience with that axe, meaning, with the oftem referred criticism on Kahlers not staying in tune after use and dropping sustain, the multistring versions, say 8 strings and up, might work well.

Nope, not wanting to start another Floyd-Kahler thread

, just puzzled if the design failed..

hmm, i never thought Kahlers dropped resonance/sustain. I've never heard this complaint about the real Kahlers either. They are no worse than Floyds in regard to holding tune as long as you keep up the maintenance. With heavy use the springs DO wear a little faster than Floyd knife edges though....

But as Apophis said, I think Mike Sherman is the only one who knows any thing about them so far. It was the guitar with the Bullet casing inlays iirc. So Mike, any word on it so far?

I know of Mike's adventure, just strikes me odd they were announced going into production, and yet I haven't hear of axes with them.
And yup, it woulld be interesting with some experiences on tone, stability, response, problems and quirks, now a decent amount of time (and frequent use, I hope) has elapsed..

A recab (posted it in here earlier) of what Josh mailed me back in February:

The maximum difference in the witness point of the first string to the
witness point of the lowest string is 1.600". Please also remember that
you will have additional compensation as the nut will be angled as well.
That dimension depends on the scale lengths and the number of strings.
...
The fanned fret system is available in 6, 7, 8 and 9 string versions.
Production usually takes 8 weeks and price varies between $699 and $949.

The bullet guitar is in the finishing process ATM.
I`ll post a review on the Kahler`s performance in a few weeks.

Being that the bridge costs more than your average guitar, I doubt you will see alot of them around

kahlers shouldn't go out of tune through use of the trem, however there is an issue with string bending with them. If you bend a single string it returns slightly out of tune, but this is corrected with a quick dive on the trem. Also, there are no issues with sustain that i know about, with a kahler very little wood is routed out of the body, and the mass of the bridge is largely fixed solidly to the body, so there should be no noticeable loss of sustain.

I wouldn't expect to see many of these at all, fanned fret instruments aren't exactly mainstream, and even in mainstream guitars, kahlers are not common, factor the cost into the equation, and people are likely to compromise with either a single scale instrument, or multi scale with a fixed bridge.
