Lightbulb Turning a standard 6-string into a low-tuned monster?

Hey everyone, I wasn't sure which section to post this thread, but I decided to put it here

Basically, this fall, I'm planning on getting my first 7 (hopefully a Carvin), and
so, since I always crave to play along with Meshuggah songs, I thought of putting
some really thick-ass strings on my Ibanez 6-string to tune it down to F#, since
I will have the Carvin to play in standard.

However, since it's only 25.5" scale... will it sound like crap? Also what 6-string
pickups would you guys recommend for those insanely low tunings?
The guitar is just a crappy RG350EX.

Any thoughts welcome.

It more than likely wouldn't work out well, because of the scale length, you would need new strings that would be too thick and your nut would have to be re-filed, and the pickups aren't meant to pick up frequencies that low.

Yeah, I thought so... Thing is, I have a feeling I will have no use for the guitar
at all, since it's got quite a lot of wear (wouldn't sell, and I would play only the carvin lol).
So I thought to make it a riff machine to unleash teh b00talz from time to time-
obviously not caring too much about the quality. Now that the F# is out of the
question, does anyone have any suggestions to the lowest possible tuning the ibanez
can handle?

( I probably sound like an idiot, "I n33dZ teh low3st tunez0r for br00talz", but
I've been stuck in E-standard for 2 whole years... I neeeeed it )

ehhm, isn't the stephen carpenter 8 string esp 25.5 scale?
also, roter has built two 23"!!! scale 9 stringers tuned to F#,(shred guitars) which according to him sounds ok, although he has like a 110 string on them.
but I think it's as much the tension as it is the scale length, just file up your nut (maybe you have to modify the bridge as well) and put on a 080 or 090 string or whatever, and get yourself a lundgren M6

If you think it's worth it on a crap guitar, but on the other hand, the only thing that will cost you is basically the pickup, and you might have other uses for that later.

our drummer at the musicstore: hello, I'm looking for a new cowbell
clerk: sure dude, do you want 3, 5 or 10 metres?
our drummer: huh?
clerk:hehehe
drummer: whut?

(It's funny how nobody has commented on this signature, because I can't believe someone's actually getting it...except maybe if you're from malmö)

Stef's guitars are both 27" scale, the FM408 is 25.5". It should work but is not optimal by any mean tension wise, even with a big string for the low F#.

Tune it in 5ths, Low G to high F#..

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,

Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee

jrf8 is a jewel in the rough
the lowest you should go on that scale would be in B standard. with thick ass strings and alot of truss rod adjustment

Haha, so why are people tuning to A on that scale for more than 10 years?
