Tripple-step de-tuners?

Do any tuners exist capable of doing three steps?
Like a Hipshot de-tuner with an additional step in the 'other' direction..

van Sinn

Unfortunately Hipshot's Trilogy bridge also doesn't work very well- it's not nearly as refined as the detuners. It doesn't work well for changing on the fly because of how clumsy it is, and sadly also often doesn't bring the string up/down in tune (even when you've set it perfectly) because the adjustment creeps. The bridge is definitely a cool design, but unfortunately doesn't sell much because it doesn't work very well yet.

Well, in all respect for those working hard on those thingies, such hardware designs aren't exactly straight forward..
Haven't many of us had a 'great' idea for a bridge or whammy, but after lotsa late nite drawings concluded "yeah, well, but..."

Fun, bass players can have both Hipshot tuners and flip-levers on the bridge. I'll see if I can locate a great clip of this.

You could use a Hipshot d-tuner at both ends.

Vansinn, you're thinking of a Zon Hyperbass- they have a proprietary bridge design that is really the only one out there that allows for 3 tunings per string pair. Really, really great design that IS reliable and accurate. But the bass is about $8000.

Kubicki had a bridge design that allowed for two tunings per string, too, which was pretty cool. Worked pretty well too, iirc, but it's been a long time since I've seen one.

@Durero: I don't see Hipshots for the bridge end. Which one are you thinking about?
Of cause, I could use a Floyd with a D-tuna; just never were a Floyd dude..

@angus: Yup, I was thinking about Zon basses, like in this clip (OT, but had to post it!):

That's Michael Manring. Not all Zon basses have that bridge- it's just that model. Both Zon and Manring are local to me and I get lessons from Michael from time to time.

I meant to suggest just using a Hipshot tuning key at both ends. Like combining a headless design with the tuners at the bridge with a headed design with a duplicate set at the head. It might look ugly to you, but it's one possible way to get the functionality you want without ordering custom hardware.

Edit: awesome vid!!!
