Rondo "Chapman" Stick?

Would the guys from Rondo ever consider making something like this?

Rondo seems to be unafraid of brave new ideas and oddities, so i don´t see them being scared to do it, but there are many other deciding factors... a tap-style guitar would require some quite different construction i think :P

It might not be worth the legal battle with Stick Enterprises, but it would be really cool to have more touch style instrument options available.

Even the forthcoming 8-string could potentially be re-strung with bass and treble strings in opposing setups the way the Stick is set up. e.g. 3 bass strings tuned in fifths and 5 guitar strings tuned in fourths.

He could do some other form of touch-style instrument, I don't think that would violate any laws. Their is other company's then stick that does them.

Thats not a bad idea. It would require some modifications like tuners and such, but it's not impossible.

Stick has proven to be very litigious in the past, just ask Warr, who got sued just for making an instrument for Trey Gunn. I personally don't think they have a leg to stand on, unless someone makes an exact copy, but Mr. Chapman is pretty quick with the lawyers.

It's rather sad. Most of the people he's sued don't even refer to their creations as Sticks, and generally go for a more guitar-y look. Didn't the guy try and patent tapping at one point?

Yeah, he sure did. Didn't happen. Unfortunately I think Emmett is the main person standing in the way of getting his instrument creation to the masses. Not a chance he'll license out his concept like Steinberger did.
