You're not stating it as a matter of opinion. You're saying 27" isn't enough for F# to work properly, but it is. Not that something like a 28.625" scale wouldn't work a little better on the low notes, but as long as your other equipment can handle it, 27" seems to work just fine at least as far down as F. Also, where did you play the 2228? If it was at a store or something, I'd expect it to have crappy strings.

Hmm. It is a matter of taste. I think he feels that a longer scale is necessary, and you don't feel that way. I mean, he did say it was his opinion.

I've played plenty of 27" guitars that didn't sound pleasing to my ears tuned below F#.
