Possible ERG planning: string-count? tuning?

ah right, I know what you mean, the problem is that I cant really try it beforehand... at least I dont know how

I have a few friends (and bandmates of course) who have basses I could try but not really at a scale I'd be looking at for an 8 I think and not in that tuning of course

I myself dont own a bass anymore (used to have a cheap 4-string that I sold years ago)

use can use bass with capo to make it shorter scale and then you can try different gauges and tensions

on a 32" scale a capo on the first would be 30" and a capo on the second would be 28" right ?

maybe it'd be a good idea to first pick up something like an RG2228 or one of those upcoming SC608s first to experiment a bit and get some experience with this kinda stuff?

For me a 75 is "okay" sounds good, but I would like a tad more tension. So I will up it to 80 eventually.
