Too bad I can't see any pictures in the given link whatever browser I use.

That swede who ordered the guitar was posting pics of this guitar during the manufacturing process on mesuggah forum:

Update! Update! Update! Update! Update! Update! Update! Update! Update!

Original link:

r3tex custom 8 - Official Meshuggah Forum

Quote:
- Sound:
Wow... I didn't know a guitar could sound like this. It's amazing. The strings have perfect intonation and ring extremely clear. It's like one rock-hard piece, sculpted straight out of kick ass. The all maple/ebony body gives it incredible sustain. So much that it forces me to play tighter and mute the other strings more carefully. The M8 pickup really is amazing. It is really easy to control from cleaner -> fat -> overdrive type sounds. It sounds very agressive.

- Action, Fit:
Nice, the strings are really soft and bendy, but not flopping around. I used 070 052 042 032 024 016 011 009
Just like I like it, good action too. It was a great idea to put the
neck further back, it's already a bit strange to stretch the arm further
out but my fingers have no trouble spreading to the 30" scale. I don't solo too much but
the heel is really sweet. Very nice and thin. The hipshot locking machines are
really great! Really good low gear ratio, light and good looking.

- Support:
They were sooo much more helpful than I ever expected, and it's the reason why I
was confident in ordering from a shop I could never visit.

- Laquer finish:
Not perfect, there were sooome small air bubbles that had formed. Nothing serious at all but I expected perfection.

- Mic placement:
I don't know anything about the technicalities of this one, but since the Lundgren pickups have an odd pole positioning the mic was placed a bit more under the fat string than the light string. Doesn't bother me since it sounds really good anyways.

- Expected construction time:
I would say I'm disappointed except it's not so bad now that it is actually here. Unfortunately it took 5 months and not 2 like they said, because of a few "unforseen" circumstances at the shop... ahem.. =/

CONCLUSION
All in all I'm extremely happy with the guitar and can definitely see myself ordering from Shamray again.

Yes yes yes.... I'll post some sound clips soon. sheeesh!

I wish I had money for something like that

Shamray has been around for a while now. I remember that they were one of the first shops with a decent website making eight string electrics.

This particular specimen looks pretty sweet. I gotta wonder about all of that empty real estate between the last fret and the bridge pickup, though.

Wow, sleek. Reminds me of Tiger's custom 7. R3tex does remind me a bit of Chester Bennington from Linkin Park though. >.>
