Am I the only one that hates classic JB shape and specs.

prices; 2300 dollars for a 4 string and then 125 dollar per string, so a 7string would be 2675 dollars for the cheapest one.

Same here.

Is a 7-string bass a 6-string bass with another higher string? Like BEADGCF?

I'd love to have a 6-string bass, but if a seven's just got another higher string, I probably wouldn't be interested... especially at that price... and with that kind of an ugly body shape.

Nope. Another +1 here.

Haven't seen much of anything from Fender that's ever interested me. Guess cutting-edge 1950's/'60's designs are just not my taste.

The standard 'accepted' setup for a seven string bass is with another higher string, eg. B E A D G C F, though some (like myself) set up with another lower string as F# B E A D G C. My Conklin GTBD-7 has a switch for a low B or a low F# mode in the control compartment depending how you want to go.
