Scarpie is a jewel in the rough
Scarpie tried himself an 8!!!!

finally found a store locally that had an 8 string.
so i took a lil trip to the place and finally tried it out. upon first holding it i thought to myself "wow" the fretboard is WIDE!!!!! I was extremely suprised as to how nicely the ibby 8 played.
as i stand now i feel that a 27" scale is mandatory for any of my 7 strings now hahahahaha i have been totally spoiled. the first 7 strings of this guitar played incredibly. it was comfortable and i didn't even realize i was playing on a baritone scale. however the low F# was very loose. and sloppy sounding. i suppose it could be fixed with a thicker string but i would have felt more comfortable if the guitars had a longer scale.

as far as adjusting to it, i found no issue what so ever. the whole neck was very very comfortable and i have finally answered the one question that has been plaguing me for years. is the 8 string for me? and i am pleased to say that it damn sure is. i found myself playing the first 7 a whole lot more, but better to have the low 8 and not need it for every riff then need it and not have it.

it sounded really good, and i definately am very pleased with the difference in tone with the longer scale. the low B was just so damn clear sounding. then again i also attribute this to the basswood body which i never minded. so long story short it was great to play and a whole lotta fun. but for me personally i would want a longer scale for any of my 8's.
