I believe 'I' was the first done on the 8'ers exclusively. They went back and Re-Recorded Nothing with them as well, but the original Nothing was 1077XL's detuned. So, '(Re)Nothing', 'I', and 'Catch Thirtythr33'... bigger Meshuggahheads than myself are free to correct me if I'm wrong.

If you're looking for which album to buy, while they're all good albums for different reasons, 'I' is my favorite. While short (it one really long song, actually), it's the most compelling of their works IMHO. The rhythms are complex, but interesting and change up often enough to keep your interest and the production is a bit thicker and more SYL-like which sounds better to my ears than the dry and spring-y sound on Re-Nothing and Catch Thirtythr33.

If you want to get into some of their newer materials I agree, "I" is your best bet. It's relativly short and cover most of their style. It's one of my fav too

One vote for I and another vote for actually buying it, If your only going to buy one album your entire life, I should be it.

You are mostly correct, except they were LACS 27" 7's, which are really amazing playing guitars, trust me.

Please be kind to snakes. They can't help it.

The only thing I can say is DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT listen to "I" in the car. As I was driving home from Best Buy after I picked up the CD and was listening to it for the first time, there's this one part where there's a long series of clean sustained chords, and then right after a chord is hit that you expect to be sustained it switches to a full volume massively distorted power chord that scared the shit out of me. I almost crashed my fucking car thanks to Meshuggah.
Other than that though, it kicks ass. ![]() ![]() |

'I' was played on their Sleipner seven's - I believe they were still having problems with the 8's stability at that point.
If you listen to he album there is no note that is particularly low - when compared to catch 33. |
