![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | 62 seems a little too light gauge for F#. 65 might work okay, but I'd probably think something more like 68 or so would match better. 9-52 should be fine for the high E to low B, considering it's a 27" scale. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Eric is right. I use a 0.074 for low E at 28.625" so anything between 0.068 and what I use would be right for the low F# at the 27" scale. "Dude, you need to find the right fucking meds to be on, because you are the most unstable person I know." |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | But with range between 52 and 68 will be much hear in sound...... or no? I mean difference between 7 and 8 string in sound will be very much like first strings (1-7) is one guitar and (8)string is another....or no? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I mean the difference in sound if 8 string will be 0.68 gauge it will sound in same tone with other 7 strings or it will have another tone? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Are you saying that if the 8 has the same lower gauges as a 7 will it sound like a 7?? I think it would. Its just like stringing a 6 with the bottom 6 strings of 7 string guitar, it will sound like a 7. Although I have never done either nor do I own an RG8. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | nonono You ever tried to put 6 string gauge 0.42 and 7 string gauge 0.70....and if you do that it will be very big difference in sound because there big range between 6 and 7 strings...yes? So I am talking about the same but for 7 and 8 string.........isn't 0.52 and 0.68 is big range? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Dude all you have to do is use a sensible string gauge discrepancy and there'll be no issue. You just want to have similar tensions. A .042 and .070 are terrible matches. Makes as much sense as sets I see people use that have a 52 for E and 60 for B. A .042 corresponds to a .058 or so, whereas a .052 matches up to a .070. Other tension matches: 44=59, 46=62, 48=64, 49=66, etc. If you're using a .052 for your low B, and you have an 8-string, a sensible 8th would be .068 or .070. Ibanez puts a .065 on their RG8's stock, which is a bit loose, but I thought it worked okay anyways. |
