What gauge of 8 string you use and what was tune of it?

i'm wanting to try an 8 string tuning on one of my 7's , i use .008's, what would you reccomend for the f ?
guitar jon, do you feel this f string is actually usable or does it just seem more like a novelty to you? clip sounded great by the way

I think 8 will be from 60 - till 65 but not more

yevetz - i was curious cuz my string gauages are smaller that about every single person here, i think i'm the only one here who uses .008's, just trying to find out whats floppy and whats too tight, i'm thinkin the .068 MIGHT be a little to tight for my taste, but you might need to be pretty tight to get that low of a tuning to work

yes I know I use 9 - 52 for all my guitars.........

I know that when gauge is thinner it can make some buzz.....but remember that there 27" scale....

I just got mine yesterday, I would guess that you would find a 68 about right if you use 8s normally.

I use pretty heavy strings and I'm a heavy-handed picker so I could barely use it with the 66 that came on the guitar, it was way too floppy for me. I had to play with a very light touch. If I hit it like I usually play would drop flat by almost a half step. I'm changing it to a .080 when I get home today.

my ibz and Squier VII are 25.5 and my Epi Lp 7 is 24.75....... All works 100% good
