8 string under $1000?

does anyone know where i could by an 8 string guitar for less than a grand? or is that just fantasy?

i just got a 7 string and it's friggin excellent. i'd like that plus a high A for extreme soloing.

i was thinking of making my own, i found a guy who would make me a neck for around $300, but i'd rather have a pro make the whole thing for me. however custom shops are like $3000 arent they?

The Halo Octavia comes close (1200, I think.)

At this point, you'd be lucky to get closer to $1200. If you're not in any hurry, though, the people over at Rondo Music might be working on an 8-string model. There's a whole thread about it here. If you need or reallyreally want one, though, you'd probably be better off getting the Halo or Ibanez. Unfortunately, unless you're really good friends with the right people, a custom shop job will be a lot more expensive.

The Halo one it's hot. The other option it's the DIY. Try to get the "How to build your own electric guitar" and there you have all the explanation. I recommend, to get a 8 string neck from a luthier, and if you want/can, do the body.

And even though I've been a bassist from the start, I still manage to sound like a guitarist on bass. But it doesn't bother me, I like it that way!!

Am I the only one that thinks the Octavia is pretty ugly? Though if it's a kickass guitar, I'd still play it.
