WOOHOO it's here! p0Rn first then specs and review of this compared to an agile 830 septor elite
A Box ![]() The cutting tool ![]() Another more complex box ![]() Holy... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 8 string family photo ![]() ![]() Specs: Deep Purple Quilt Blackburst Edges Deep Triple Step Stain/Color Process Clear Gloss Finish (Standard) Maple Neck/Alder Body (Standard) Black Sides w/ Black Burst Back 5-Piece Maple Neck w/ 2 Walnut Stripes Painted Satin Finish Back Of Neck (Matches Body Color) Ebony Fingerboard (Standard) Jumbo Frets .055" H .110" W 20in Fretboard Radius (Standard) First Impression: Mother of god. An absolute amazing instrument. What blew me away is the neck profile and also the spacing between strings. This is important to me since I have smaller hands but this guitar makes playing 8 easy. The agile spacing seems greater and tends to give me hand cramps lol. At first I was a lil disappointed when I opened it since the purple quilt is VERY dark, although I think it's all based on lighting as what that photo shows. But overall quality of the color is much superior on the DC800. The agiles flame seems skin deep to me. I have yet to find any flaws on the guitar but I have yet to go through it with a magnifying glass quite yet. Weight feels right, and sits comfortably on a strap. Weird other thing that I like, I like the strings on it, they feel so smooth? I'm not sure if Carvin uses Carvin strings or Elixir or something cause thats what they remind me of. Sound quality: Very bassy. I have never been a fan of active pickups, and will probably switch them out for either BKP or M8s. I currently have M8's installed on my agile in the photos (with covers on them), and I couldn't be happier with it's sound. I'm sure I'll post an updated review once I get fully acquainted with my new woman. |

Looks great
![]() How do you find the low end clarity between the two? That was the exact Agile I was considering because I'm not sure if I wanna go with the 27" scale. Not to derail the thread, but how does the Agile balance? Thanks man

I swapped out the pickups in my Agile, I threw in Lundgren M8s, so the clarity is quite awesome, I'm thinking about doing the same to the carvin. I do like the sound I get from the agile but there were just some craftmenship missing I felt, wasn't comfortable to play long period of time, the neck is slightly larger than the carvins, quality of hardware ect, you can read for months on here about them both. Carvin just feels much more natural to me, and that maybe cause of the shorter scale length since I have smaller hands. If you meant balance as in weight, the agile is a lil more top heavy since the headstock is so large. One thing I do before buying a guitar is strap one on and play, Carvin kills the agile in comfort, can't wait to play this thing live!

Alder, Ebony, Walnut, and Maple and you're getting a bassy sound? I am not questioning you in a rude way, I'm just a little curious because these are rather bright tonewoods. I have the same combo, minus walnut, on my 7 and I get a pretty bright tone(Dimarzio D Sonic 7 in bridge bar facing neck). Can you please elaborate on this a little more?
Nonethless, this is a gorgeous guitar. Happy NGD, bro. |

The best way I could put it is that my Agile felt like a toy after getting my Carvin. Congrats!

The Carvin pickups are VERY dark, very hot and pretty saturated. They are clear as a bell on the cleans though. But I definitely would prefer some lundgren M8's or some BKP aftermaths. |

Ah, I see. Thanks for the response. This is very helpful as I'm going to be ordering a DC800 within the year and I'm trying to gather as much info as possible to make the best possible selections in my spec list. |

At first I wasn't crazy about the color just cause it was dark, but I took it outside and looked at in the sun, its like a totally different instrument. Love it so far, can't put it down

Thats a great looking pair of guitars you have there.
I'm glad to hear that the Carvin 8 strings are legit. I have a Carvin 7 and when I saw the 8 strings in the catalog I almost went into shock. I've played few guitars that feel as nice as a Carvin. |
