Has anyone tried Curt mangan 8 string sets yet?

I used to play the regular .010-.056 sets back when I had a 7, so I know I like the strings, but I haven't played them in a while. Now that I play an 8, I'm looking for a good set and came across this:

9-84 Nickel Wound Set - Curt Mangan Best Guitar Strings

Seems interesting but I'm yet to hear of anyone who has actually played it. Also, it's pricey, so I'd like to see if someone here has experience with this set. The .064 for low B and .084 for low F# seem a bit too heave, but idk.

Opinions...?

i bought my first 8 from another user on here and he had used curt mangan strings on it. the guitar arrived at my house with CM strings on it and an extra set and i liked them. i forget what gauges they were, though i know it was only a .074 for the 8th.

i havent tried to buy this brand of strings since then as ive been using d'addarios. the gauges in the set you posted would be perfect for me, but damn, $20 is steep for one pack. i bought 4 sets of d'addarios for my 8 from another user on here for about half of what 4 sets of those would cost.

Exactly, I know the strings themselves are good quality and their tone is nice, since I've used them before, but the price per pack is a little high to just start ordering sets out of curiosity.

Also, if anyone is interested, I emailed them and they said that the .084 is tapered at 30 inches. Do you know if this would be ideal for a 27" scale Carvin DC800? I plan on tuning E standard + low B + low F#

Sweet! I might grab a pair if these turn out to be any good. Anyone know if these would work for an Agile Septor Elite 827 (inline headstock)??? Would the taper start past the nut?

That price is of you buy direct at retail, at shop they will be less. I am ordering some tomorrow but I work at a store so I get them cheap.
