Tone and sustain from various Schecter 8's?
I wonder how different tone and sustain really is between the various eight string Schecters?
This be disregarding the pickups, purely considering the basic instrument. Reason is I've gotten quite fond of playing slide on my Riot 8, and now consider shopping another Schecter to be modded for slide works. For this reason, how they sound and sustains fretted across the board isn't too interesting, though I do fret a Bit up till 5th fret or so.. Obviously there's no reason to shell out more than needed, so if an Omen has 'it', I just might settle for that. For slideworks, at least I'd expect very little difference between the Riot, Blackjack, ATX and Damien models. van Sinn.. plays progressive metal, jazz/rock fusion and Hindu-derived ambiance says, stop second guessing the past, keep pushing, or risk getting left behind opposes any kind of mind control, has no tv - but has a fully functional pineal gland |

Really? With all the Schecter players in here, noone has had the chance to compare tone and sustain between at least some of the different 8-string models?

I guess man, My old hellraiser special had nice sustain, and you can pick one up used for $500. I never really payed close attention though.

I have only had the opportunity to compare two of the Schecter 8s and they were a few months apart, so I don't know how reliable this is.
I played an Omen 8 for a good hour in a local store and was impressed with the tone and sustain. I would probably say it was good to very good, but not great. I bought a Hellraiser Special online (in brand new condition, for the same price as a new Omen 8 ) and the tone and sustain have, frankly, blown me away. This guitar is WAY better than I was expecting it to be.Again, I didn't directly A/B these guitars and memory is a funny thing - so please take the above with a grain of salt. |
