Smile Buying an 8-string, but which?

Got some money just lying and doin nothing, so why not spend it on my first 8 string

Thinking about an Ibanez RGA 8, and then swap the pu:s for BKP.

The thing is that i'm not too sure yet, please come with some suggestions, and it needs to be in the same pricerange as an RGA 8 with BKP included, so about 900 £ or 1100 $

I live in Sweden, so shipping from the states is quite costly, due to our skyhigh taxes =(, but if you got some other tips please post them

Gotta be BKP? Open to other brands or actives?

Im not a fan of actives, but other brands are welcome .

Been looking at lundgrens, and since im a swede, I thought they would be less expensive, but no, they cost verrrry much here too =(

The thing with tha rga is that the pickups suck and need to be changed, but I dont need to change pickups if the guitar got like dimarzios or some other good pu:s.

I dont need to have bkps, but if i would to switch out pu:s, i would prbly go with them

Well, the schecter looks nice, but I dont want actives. I think they lack of dynamics and so on. And also it havnt got that baritone scale, which I like too, but thats just my opinions

Well, if you want baritone-scale your options are the RGA8, RG2228 and ESP/LTD SC-608B if you want to go the easy route here in our country!

But you can always order an Agile!

yeah

How is it to order an Agile, cause I've been looking at them too. Not to high on the whole shipping and taxes stuff, can you go around the taxes?

Just order one from rondo, but there will be unpleasant taxes and shipping as all that shit is ....ed up in Sweden..

I think taxes + shipping is about 30-40% here in Sweden on products sent from USA!

yeah

Thats the thing, otherwise Agile would be perfect, but after all the taxes n shit, it becomes as expensive as an Ibanez =/

Yeah, the safest and cheapest bet are getting a RGA8 and upgrade the pickups!

They float around quite cheap on our swedish auction-sites from time to time, even saw an Agile 8 on blocket a few weeks ago!

yeah

You custom-build 8-strings in the price range of $900-$1100?

go with an agile 8 string. as far as 8 strings for the price there is nothing better. ive heard nothing but bad thing about the ibanez rga8. the pickup, but that can be change but ive heard thinbgs about the bridge coming off because there is only 1 screw holding it on.

I love my LTD SC608B, big Ibanez fan but found the neck a bit wide, and stock pickups must be replaced, my buddy put blackouts in his and it had the DJENT sound straight away, only downside to my SC is I'm not a big fan of the 808's..... thinking putting some D-Activators in it tho'

Scope out my NGD of the Ltd H-308. I've owned a Rg2228, RGA8 plus spent a considerable amount of time playing Agiles & Schecters 8's and this Ltd blows them all away.

@zeaoth I just shoved the damn p/u into the cavity. I forced that shit. It works.

@DTo8 Does every 8strings buzzes on the low strings?

@MatthewLeisher I'd take a dump on a 6505 if the Axe FX asked me to.

People need to remember that shipping and custom to ship and agile may be insane sky high.

If agile is not an option, I would go with the RGA and drop some bkps in it if that is what you want. If you wanted to save some bucks try a Dactivator set or a dactivator8/PAF8 set

There's an agile at blocket atm, and a custom Ad-Lib or something. Check it out, I'm not interested in them though.. There's also a schecter up there. just search for "8 strängad" , everywhere.

I stuck some DiMarzio PAF8s in my RGA8 along with a tone pot, best thing I ever did to that guitar!

Well, I'm out guys. If this is what's cool now, I think I'm done. I no longer have any connection to this world. I'm gonna go home and kill myself. Goodbye - Cartman
