Lots of fret buzz on the low F#...
Hey guys. First post ftw.
Anyways, I own a Schecter Omen-8. I understand that it's a cheap 8-string, but there's an ungodly amount of fret buzz on the 8th string. I mean, it doesn't stop it from vibrating or anything, it's just enough to be annoying, but it's always there until I play around the 12th fret. I don't want to mess with the action, but it seems like that's all I can do. The neck is perfectly straight. No bow either way. It's practically brand-new, so I know the frets aren't worn out or anything. I've never seen anything over .74 in terms of gauges, so I can't really go bigger...Or smaller, for that matter. I don't hit it very hard and I still get a ton of buzz. Any ideas/tips? |

D'addario nw080 you could try. That's what I'd be using. That will probably work.
Though why don't you want to raise the action? I've found I always need to raise the action very slightly on the lower strings. |

I'm not really sure why I decided to say that. O_O It just kinda...Came out.
EDIT: That, and I seem to have lost my allen wrench set... |

The only thing that can help besides a bigger string and higher action is actually adding a little neck relief by loosening the truss rod a little. Adding a little relief will reduce buzz on lower frets, but too much will cause the higher frets to buzz instead.

I have an omen 8 with an .80 on top and mine buzzes too.
You'll definitely need to raise it if you go that route |

fret buzz
All you have to do is use a .074 at the 8th position, and get a SUPER SMALL allen wrench and raise the saddle of the 8th string at the bridge. Problem solved.

For help getting that Allen key, try ACE or any other well stocked hardwear store usually has a huge selection of allen keys. I just brought my guitar into the store and tried them till one fit. (Though they did think I was trying to steal stuff in the case
)They can be found for about 3$ |
