N(u)GD - 1st 8

So here it is:

Das Boxen:

Das case

GEET!!!!

First impression: it's a bit smaller than I'd expected. For whatever reason, I was expecting something more akin to my BTB575FM .

The neck is taking a little getting used, but nothing too bad. It's mainly having to remember that the lowest string is tuned to F# instead of B. I'll be taking it in to have it set up in A (or maybe B) standard, so I don't need to worry about that for too long. This has the thickest neck of any 8-string that I've tried--kind of like two RG2228 necks glued together. I daresay the Omen-8 actually has a more comfy neck since its is rounder. The rounder radius (13.7") definitely helps in the comfort department. Got a little bit of neck dive, too.

The pickups aren't bad. They're a little on the dark side (compared to the EMGs in my SLAT3-7), but that's prolly due to the 'hog and the strings needing changing. The neck pup has a good amount of clarity when boosted.

Love. the. Finish. Seriously, ALL guitars need satin clearcoat .

There is a chip or something in the fretboard that I tried to capture in the final picture. It doesn't bother me since I got a good deal on the guitar used, but it probably would've had I bought it new.

Overall, I really like this guitar so far. It turns out that I don't bend my wrist the proper way to play fanned frets near the nut, but I can learn.

If you guys want to see any other pics let me know.

I don't know. Though, if that's the result of it getting filled in, it must've been a hell of a chip.

I forgot to mention: I really like the case. It's no Prestige, but definitely one of the better wood cases that I've seen.

Rondo - "Uniform Neck Profile - For ultra fast playing - 21.5mm at the first fret and 22mm at the 12th fret."

Ibanez - "Super Wizard neck features the legendary ultra-thin, ultra-flat Wizard 17mm neck dimensions,"

I don't understand where people are getting this perceived thickness from... That's what, 4mm thicker than the Ibanez neck? It's not a Gibson!

Regardless, I love the guitar man.

"Show me an elitist, and I'll show you a loser."

"My relationship to music is completely subliminal, it just flows through me.
