Just went to change my strings... and now

so today i changed the strings on my intrepid (ha i'm a tard), a few hours later, here we are

before:

after:

i think it looks kind of neat, and breaks of the monotony of red that this guitar has. i like the finish, but its just to much, and not interesting enough to really be THAT appealing. I've always wondered why this hasn't been an option of some sort. so anywho, what do you think?

Looks neat, but I think I'd do the whole thing.
But red isn't my favorite color either, so yeah.
Looks nice though man

Looks nice man, I agree I like it compared to the two shades of red. How did you go about modifying it?

Very nice, much better.

Kamikaze7 I for one value my guitars and gear like people value their kids - ....ing with my guitars or gear is equal to me molesting your kids - you just don't do it if you value your life...

Whiskey_Funeral For that much money I'd just put myself through Luther School and build the damn thing myself.

MaxOfMetal I just love guitars. It doesn't matter how many strings, frets, pickups, or wood used I just dig the .... out of them all.

I'm about to order a 828 Septor, but if Kurt offered the intrepids like that, i would definitely get one too.

howd you do it?

I like my guitar tone like I like my women, perfect rounded bottom end, cut in the mid section, heavy on the top end, and super tight.

i did refinish it. i just stripped the stain down the middle stripe there with a chemical stripper and by taping off the wings, let it sit for about 30 mins or so and pulled it out. i refinished it with 1 coat of tung oil so far, and i'm going to be adding more as time goes on, but its doable to add it on with the strings installed so i put them back on. if you have any questions about how i did it i'm more than happy to go into more detail.

More pics, please? You should send some to Kurt too.

Also, I know Rondo does something similar (similar looking anyway) with their neckthrough's that sport mahogany wings. I was hoping to ask Kurt if he could do something like this when the custom shop opens back up. I have been asking him about custom shop pendulums over the past few months and I'm really hoping they do it.

I think a maple boarded pendulum pro with ash wings stained ocean burst would look sweet with the natural neck.

That's pretty cool. I personally prefer original finish with dark fretboard, though, but your finish is definitely ideal for the maple version.
