Potential of horizontal tapguitars. New Kelstone video. New Warr project
The Kelstone has been posted before but there is a new presentation video, showing the advantages and various techniques:
The instrument now bolts onto a standard keyboard stand. Current price 1107.15 Euro including Belgium 21% VAT. Homepage: Kelstone - A new instant musical interface Here's some quotes from a Trey Gunn / Warrguitars article concerning horizontal tapping and a new Warrguitar project: "The original Warr instruments were massive creatures, laid horizontally on a series of drum stands." "So what is the next step in the Warr Guitar evolution? About five years ago, while Trey was still with King Crimson, he began returning to the Warr Guitar’s roots – playing with the instrument horizontal on a stand – and that approach has deepened with his new projects. “Not only is it easier on the wrists, but the kind of dynamic you can get, with the wrists in a straight line from the arms and letting gravity help with the fingers, and ability to shape a musical phrase – it doesn’t even compare,” he says. “In the guitar position the stress on the hands keeps it from happening." “The dynamics just expand. It’s terrifying, actually. It’s like going back to kindergarten. Oh my god, I’m thinking, I don’t even have the technique to deal with this kind of dynamic range. I’ve been researching keyboard technique and I’ve discovered some interesting things. So we are in the process of completely destroying the instrument again."" From here: Gunning for Warr - Premier Guitar Also I have been thinking how horizontal tapping allows a much larger area to be comfortably covered by the hands, both along and across the strings. There is potential for ultra long scale instruments, also with large numbers of strings since the thumb does not need to be on the back of the neck

i was expecting this to cost a lot more than it does. on that site it says 915 euros which still come out to a lot in USD, but i was expecting like a $2000+ price.
that would feel really werid at first but i think a guitarist would have a pretty quick transition period. Agile AL-727 EB Carvin V3 Avatar 2x12 w/ Celestion G12K-85s

I would like to try a Kelstone one day. And Trey is a huge advocate of this style of playing now. I had online lessons with him a while back and it sure does open up the range. Too much for me though. I still like playing guitar style.
