Need a little (or a lot) of info on 8 string body woods.

Since i'll be going for a custom shop one i'd like it to sound good, lol. Don't really know much about this so all info is more then welcome here. One thing is sure though. I'm gonna go for a fanned fret one with a high A string and have it 2 steps down. So ... Anyone know something more on this?

Preferrable no exotic woods since i ain't that rich

You can get any wood you desire with that kind of tuning. I'd recommend Mahogany.

Mahogany would be great, prolly gonna have a neck through then.

Always wanted a natural guitar so i'm prolly gonna have it like that (cuts the cost aswell a bit).

Now for the dumbest question of all ...

How does mahogany look actually, not really sure if i've ever seen one to be honest

Like this.

The streaking is not very pronounced, and you'll probably want the pores filled in.

Natural mahogany looks awesome. I used to have an RG with a natural mahogany finish.

I think we have a winner

Last question i got is the scale lenght actually, I tried 27" scales before and i completely hate them. And i'm not quite sure a 25 1/2 scale will be that much of a good idea on a 8. There some specific way on the fanned fret neck with the scale lenghts cuz i'd hate getting a longer scale since i'm not too great with em ...
