NGD: Agile awesomeness
Hey guys, just got my new Agile Interceptor 828 a few hours ago. First some pics:
![]() ![]() the back of the guitar has a slightly transparent finish, though the front shows none of the wood grain. ![]() And the amp being used with it at the moment: ![]() After playing through a bunch of songs, i am quite impressed with it so far. This is my second 8 string, the first being my RG2228. It was an easy transition from the ibanez neck to the agile neck. Im not too picky about neck size, but i believe if you are used to ibanez necks, you shouldnt have a problem with the agiles. I know alot of people dislike the EMG808, but i think they sound fine and probably wont bother replacing them. The interceptor only needed to be tuned, though it wasnt far off. Intonation and string height all seem to be right on the mark, which is a relief after hearing about intonation problems with these guitars. Maybe they have fixed that problem with the second batch? The guitar itself plays very well. The 28.625" scale makes the higher strings a little stiffer than im used to, guess ill just have to practice and build up more strength in my fingers. The one thing that takes some getting used to is the kahler bridge. The whammy bar is in a somewhat awkward position, right behind the high E string saddle (unlike a floyd or edge where the bar is beside the saddles). But it fits in snug and doesnt fly around freely, which is good. Also from reading about Kahlers, they seem to have a few advantages over floyd style bridges, namelly the built in ability to lock the bridge down and make it a fixed bridge, as well as not having to cut ball ends off the strings. It also seems you can adjust string spacing too. It also seems to hold tuning pretty well even with large dive bombs and the like. The one thing i am probably going to add are some of those vinyl stick inlays they sell on ebay. Someone with an intrepid put some on his agile and said they worked pretty good, so im going to give them a shot too. Any ideas on what kind of inlays should go on there? |

Ive been waiting for some nice full frontal pics of the white 828s. This guitar looks sick as hell dude, congrats!! If the intonation and everything is all good thats great because I notice you dont have any of the bridge route showing (never thought it was anyything to complain too much about in the first place)

nice guitar, mine shows the bridge route and still intonated and tuned fine after a couple of kahler adjustments, nice to see they fixed the route

On a sort of unrelated side-note, what do you think of the Double-Cross? You don't really hear much about those, but feature-wise, they seem pretty cool (even if they look like something from a video game).

lol i was concerned about no fretmarkers as well! I had to wait months for my Agile after putting in a deposit.. The whole time I made a point to only look at my top markers on any Guitar I played.... When I got my Agile Interceptor 727 no problems! Im sorta proud..

i really like my Double Cross. Its got alot of good features and sounds great at the same time. Im surprised there isnt much talk of them, then again ive never seen them in any guitar stores. I kinda had to take a chance on mine, but i do not regret buying one at all.

Thanks all for the comments! So far this has turned out to be a great guitar. Plays just as good as my RG2228, but at half the price
Im also glad this purchase turned out good, as i was quite unimpressed with the sound of the Hornet 7 i ordered, and the Septor 7 i bought i liked better, but this interceptor 8 smokes them both. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask. Ill be happy to answer them
