Yeah, I sit just a hair above parallel, myself. I go back and forth between heel up and heel down, just depending on what's going on, and I try to get the right height both for comfort and versatility. Too high though, and the throne edge could (emphasis could) put pressure on the back of the thigh, interfering both with motion and circulation. Plus, for me, I wouldn't be able to lay into my kick for the heavy hits: I want to Beat It Like Bonham!

Of course, it's like grip and drum placement and a host of other things; everyone's different, so everyone's perfect setup's going to be different!
