Tom stand compatibility
I have some Pintech Concertcast pads that take 7/16" (11.11 mm) L rods for mounting. I'm looking at some cheap Tama double tom stands online and the L rods are 10.5 mm. Anyone think that these stands will work? I'm desperate to get back into drumming because I haven't practiced in forever.

Look up Gibraltar hardware.
their stuff is less expensive, and if their L-arms are anything like their cymbal stands, then they'll be thicker. My booms on my gibraltar cymbals stands have a diameter that's too big to be accepted by my Tama boom clamp assemblies. How much is too big is a good question! Anyway, check out the gibraltar stuff to save money on a potentially correct fit. James |

I ordered the Tama stands. I went into a music store with Tama stuff, and the rods were too big, but I tore up a Juicy Fruit package, wrapped it around the rod, and put the head on it, and it fit perfectly. Once they arrive, I'm going to have to buy a shit ton of juicy fruit to shim with... I better get chewing.
The Tama stands were also the cheapest thing I could find, $85 Canadian a peice for double tom stands. Canadian Online Music Store Musical Instruments Equipment Guitars Bass Drums DJ Vancouver Toronto Montreal Last edited by JJ Rodriguez; 08-04-2007 at 10:41 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

You can't go wrong with Gilbratar. I like Tama's hardware too as well as Pearl.
