Question regarding using keyboards

So I'm using a keyboard to record drums with Superior 2.0, and while I can physically play the stuff I want to, the tempo does not always come out great.

My method right now is to record guitar first, then the kick drums, then the hats/cymbals and snare, all individually. The final product is generally not rhythmically sound and it's a bit frustrating. I discovered quantize (I'm in cubase 6 here) but it doesn't always work perfectly, rhythm can become TOO tight, and not in sync with the guitar.

Anyone who uses keyboards to program drums have any suggestions? Should I figure out all the quantize functions more in-depth, or is there something else I can do to make the tempo perfect (when it needs to be, that is) with these drums. Thanks and sorry for the long post!

Edit the MIDI instructions in the piano roll? That works for me when I need to tweak stuff.

^ this. Track the drums with the keyboard then fix the timing in the piano roll.

So track with keyboard, then manually drag the hits to a rhythmically sound place? Just want to make sure I'm interpreting correctly.
