Belated New Cheap E-kit day!

I've been wanting an e-kit for some time. I've always loved drums, but could never get to a position where I could own one (whether due to funds or living arrangements). After selling some gear I didn't need here recently, I decided to piece together a cheap e-kit to see if I could assemble something I could make drum tracks with. Well, I did.

I may as well call this the 'eBay' kit, as each part was bought used off eBay. It's comprised of a Yamaha DD65 (YDD60) with some add-ons. First is a Yamaha KP65 for the kick-drum trigger, with a no-name double kick pedal. For the hi-hat controller, I picked up a Pintech controller that works well. I've still got a couple things to get for it- namely a drum throne and a snare stand to set the YDD60 on.

Overall, it's a nice starter e-kit- and certainly capable of laying down basic drum tracks.

Good score! Can that really fit in a snare stand?
Can this also be used as a MIDI controller?

Yes and yes. It has three notches on the bottom for the 'claws' of a snare stand. It also has a midi in and out, and it can be used as a midi controller.

I'm a noob and can't figure out how to get the hi-hat controller to function 100%. Holding it down doesn't change the hi-hat pad from open to closed.
