Hey Dave Im just curious,
What pickups do you have in your SII-7? I'm getting the dimarzio's but I will probably keep the AirNorton neck and later on swap the Dsonic bridge out for something else depending on how I like it....... I just bought a BK nailbomb I'm gonna tryout in my Ibanez. If I really like it I might through one of those in the kxk as well. Just wondering if you have any suggestions as far as BkP's and the kxk or any others for that matter.

I'm pretty sure he has a Duncan Custom in there but I'll let him answer that.

In regards to BKPs though, a lot of things would work, but just keep in mind with a maple neck-thru guitar, the vast majority of the tone is going to derive from the neck and not the wings. So perhaps approach the pickup search with that in mind - something that would interact well with maple's tonal characteristics (high mid emphasis).

I personally think a Warpig, Holy Diver, Miracle Man or of course the Nailbomb would be a good fit for the KxK Sii-7Rs (though others would sound good too most likely, it just depends on what sound you're going for and what amp you use).

I personally am not a fan of the DiMarzio D-Sonics. I liked them initially but fairly quickly after the honeymoon I started to find they sounded pretty boring and could get muddy fairly easily on the low B (even with the bar facing the bridge). If I was buying the KxK I personally would opt for the Blackout option, but that's just me.

Well I used to be a Emg user. Then tried the Blackouts and thought they were ok but I think From here on in it's passives for me. Never say never though. At least for now I want to explore what passive pickups have to offer. As far as 7 string guitars goe I have tried the evo 7 and a BKP painkiller ( talkin bridge pickups ). I like the Painkiller but I it's not exactly what I'm lookin for. I wanna try some more BKP's.

Yeah the Painkiller definitely isn't one of the warmer models they have to offer, that's why I think the Holy Diver, Warpig, etc would be a good way to go. Obviously you'll have your Nailbomb shortly to try out too

For the record the BKP Nailbomb bridge / Cold Sweat neck sounds amazing in the KxKs with this configuration (it's what I have in mine).

If you want to know the base price for a custom model, PM Noodles. I'm fairly certain that price is just for this particular model with these particular specs.
