Cool, yea I'm leaning that way. The Emeralds sound really intriguing.

Nick, I may be having to take the blackouts out of my incoming Carvin - word on the street is that the JSX doesnt play nice with EMG's/Blackouts.

nothing definitive yet as i dont have the guitar, but IF i DO end up going passives I will be hitting you up for something for the DC727. probably a neck pickup first as i have a Blaze 7 kicking around for the bridge of the C7 i sold..

I may follow nick and do the Nailbomb/cold sweat thing, but i figure i should email Tim and ask what he suggests first.

and thats IF i decide to get different pickups .

jes' giving you a heads up - if you can PM me the price on a Nailbomb Bridge pickup, that'd be awesome.

3 cheers for free gear!

That's cool. Although I'd be more than happy to get you a neck pickup, I strongly recommend saving up for a complete set. With all due respect to the legion of Blaze fans around here, in my honest opinion that pickup is fairly average when compared to similarly voiced BKPs. It's ultimately up to you, but that's my take on things.

I recommend talking to other BKP users on here, I think they'll say the same thing. I like DiMarzios, I'm going to be selling a lot of those too, but my honest take is there's just no comparison. It's like comparing a production guitar to a custom shop handmade guitar, there's a whole other level that you can't appreciate until you've experienced it. The difference is not subtle.

I'll PM you that price quote now.

the Blaze bridge sounds wretched in a maple neck-thru/ alder bodied guitar, especially a Carvin. i would know i've tried it before . thin, brittle and piercing. the Blaze in Mahogany is entirely different story though...

sell the Blaze and the Blackouts, then email Tim with what you need. he was dead on with the Cold Sweat neck recommendation for me .

FWIW, i'm not one who's totally opposed to mixing and matching pickups from different manufacturers. i'm currently running a Dimarzio X2N7 and BKP Nailbomb neck in my Agile Septor 27", and really like the results. i've thought of replacing the X2N7 to have a BKP set, but it works so well with the NB in that guitar that i don't wanna fuck with it. but who knows, talk to me in a month or two and i might have totally different pickups in that guitar

Actually the blaze was fine in the carvin, but NOT my first choice.
If youre going bkp dude, get the pair. maybe get one just to have one in there,b ut keep saving for the second one straight up. As a die hard dimarzio fan usually, let me tell you, BKPs are fucking ridiculous. I wanna try some other small name brands cause im sure there are others as nice (just like small luthiers), but in the mean time, i have a definite standby

There are much better dimarzio/duncan choices for that guitar than a blaze though. it does ok in the guitar, but just that, ok

That Nailbomb of mine needs to get here faster =D

Depending on how it works out, I may end up keeping my all maple Ibanez RX350 and swap out the Adder Plus ones... though Adder pickups are about as top notch as BK. I'd think a War Pig would sound great in maple?

Yes I think the Warpig would be a great match for maple or any guitar with bright characteristics.

That means we'll probably be looking at the shipment coming on Thursday as it usually takes a week to get here.
