True, I like the 7 string Xiphos I played more than my RG7620, and that's an old Japanese one!

Yeah, we're probably going to order some ESP standard models as well if we get approved for dealership. Most likely the Horizon, M-1 Neck-thru (satin finish one), and hopefully some signature models like the new Michael Amott and Stephen Carpenter.

Are you for sure dealing Caparison Zimbloth? Because I'd totally order a Caparison off of you in a couple months.

You should see if you can order any of the Japanese/overseas 7-string models (Viper 7 SL baritone, Viper 7 standard, Forest 7 standard, etc.) That would make a lot of people happy, but I'm not too sure about the feasability with ESP USA If I could get the Lim Sang Mook model I would be super happy (wouldn't be for a while anyway) Korean Artist Series ESP ARTIST CUSTOM GUITARS---Lim Sangmook<CRASH>---

but that's just rambling anyway

I honestly don't know anything about the area you're located in, so this may not apply to you.

But every guitar store (independent of major chains) that I've ever gone to, I've made nice with the owners. They are always telling me that it's great to have the big expensive stuff on the walls, but they rarely sell. The stuff that keeps them in business are the cheapo guitars that parents come in to buy for their kid's birthdays and for holidays thinking they want to actually get into it.

Any plans on covering that base?

If we do our job at getting the word out there, they'll sell. The main thing is the guy I'd be working with already has other successful businesses and stuff that make plenty of money, we could afford to just carry high-end stuff because this would be a work of passion for him, not really just to make loads of money. I'm pretty sure he's willing to give it time to grow.

That said, we may carry some lower end stuff eventually I don't know. I do understand the logic of what you're saying though, it is in general a good way to go.
