Wow Rob's stuff is getting way classier. I'm liking his builds this year a lot more than before but I guess its more due to what people order.

That headstock shape needs to go away. IMO it has ruined a large number of otherwise awesome looking KxKs. The rest is great!

So does anyone have a clue what the tonal attributes of a thick ziricote cap over mahogany may be? I know what maple would do but no clue really what ziricote would do.

^I've always heard that Ziricote was an extremely bright sounding wood, tonally. If I'm wrong, I do apologize of course. Oh and don't you dare buy this guitar! You already own too many instruments I would kill for!!

Edit... Nevermind, it's not a rosewood. But I've always heard it was tonally similar. I can't really speak fom experience though. |

Nope. True Rosewoods are of the Dalbergia genus in the Fabaceae family while Ziricote is of the Cordia genus in the Boraginaceae family.
They're as closely related as Maple and Mahogany. Compared to most Hard/Rock Maple, most Ziricote is harder and heavier. The wood has similar long grain patterns as well. I can see that, as it has nearly identical physical properties to Brazillian Rosewood, if anything a little denser and heavier. Need help with setting up a trem? Need info on your Ibby? Live in Milwaukee? Please feel free to message me. New Rules. Read Them. |

Max is right on it not being a type of rosewood, but it is tonally similar with the difference I noted

I'm deciding between pulling the trigger on this and staying married... there's a lot of hot chicks out there, but so few ziricote/mahogany/bubinga guitars.
I'm a lover… Not a fighter... But I'm also a fighter, so don’t get any ideas. |
