Stuff isn't expensive. You Americans have just lived in a cocoon so long, trying to buy everything American, so your dollar just ain't worth shit.

[j/k]

The dollar does seem particularly weak just now however. At last peeksies, $1=115 Yen and thats lest than 50p here.

You guys should never have left the British Empire.

Are Jackson Stars only available in Japan? My Japanese catalogue has all the same models as my trade catalogue but every model has "Stars" on the headstock. And they aren't budget models like Squier - the prices are pretty close and specs are identical.

Anyone?

I think Noodles knows a lot about the Stars models (you probably know he has a 7 string Stars Soloist).
I'm no expert but here's what i do know and some links to someone who knows a lot more.

Yeah,the Stars are only available to the Japanese domestic market,but that doesn't stop them turning up on ebay and you can order them from Ikebe.
It appears that they basically took over the Jackson Jap import line when they stopped making those,like the Jap high-end 'Pro' models.
They also used to brand them as the 'Grover Jackson' line in Japan.
It appears that they make most of the regular Jap import guitars but in a Stars version,whihc is generally identical.

I didn't realise that a few of the Stras models are even made in the U.S. but they still have to carry the Stars name on the headstock for copyright reasons.

I'll find this link for you that gives the full picture on exactly what they are.
Found it! This is basically the history of the Jackson Stars guitars;
http://www.audiozone.dk/index-filer/JacksonStars.htm
...and this is a link to the actual Jackson Stars website showing all the models that are available.They also do 'custom order' guitars where you can choose from a list of options and extras for your guitar;
http://www.jacksonstars.com/jacksonstars07.html

There's some awesome info links on that first link there.There's a particularly good one there somewhere where the guy does a back to back test and review of a '93 (?) Jap Rhoads Pro against a U.S. made RR1 from the late '90s. I wish they stll made the same line of Jap Pro models.they look awesome!
Here's that Pro Rhoads/RR1 test;
http://www.audiozone.dk/index-filer/...RhoadsInfo.htm

This is a cool site too that features Stars Jacksons as well as Jap Jacksons and everything Jackson really.It's in Japanese but there's some cool gallery pics anyway;
http://www.jacksonguitar.org/

It's quite interesting that that guy says he got one of the import Kevin Bond Rhoads recently and he reckons it's almost identical in it's detailing to the '93 import Rhoads Pro.He has nothing but praise for it.I really like those Bond Rhoads models too.

Thanks very much man, there is plenty there to keep me satisfied.

I was just wondering as I got my Jackson RX10 my colleague picked up a Stars RR and I thought they were Japanese market models

Kampai!

No probs dude
Glad i could be of some help on this matter.
I love Japanese guitars soooo much,way more than guitars from anywhere else really.
The good ones are just so fuckin' good They really know what they're doing and seem to take great pride in their work.

Ah, but you'd also get paid more! I bet my daily wage as an unskilled labourer is far 'more' than that of my american counterpart - but rather than have lots of extra money, I have to spend more on buses and RG7321's ($700!) and coke and burgers.

On top of that, you'd still have the queen, and that bitch is hot.

Its all in proportion, y'see?

March_of_the_Mutes is just really niceMarch_of_the_Mutes is just really nice
when your converting the price to US dollars do you convert the price right under the model name, the one in red or the one underneath the one in red?

Hýrukante is on a distinguished road
Just got some translation software for 'internet explorer’ that translates in real time, seems to work quite well. May be worth checking it out, if your getting bored of looking at Japanese: P unfortunately I think its just a 15 day trial, but I’m sure that’s enough time to help you find what your looking for with ease.
