This looks cool: Devi Ever Consol 2 cartridge based multi-fx

I think this has the potential to lead to some really awesome things in the boutique pedal market. Support it if you can.

The only concern I have about this concept is long term reliability, especially in a live setting.

I was going to recommend this, but the link in OP's video didn't have the URL code.

EDIT: Strange... it does now.

The cartridges are robust and will withstand abuse. As pictured in the kickstarter, we have already done multiple prototypes of the cartridges and they will sit low enough into the pedal that you'd have to be trying EXTREMELY hard to break them to achieve such results.

Also, there is a pretty simple solution to create an extra layer of protection (a larger piece of plastic you'd slide in over the top of the pedal and controls to "lock" things into place) for those too paranoid to use the pedal as is, but it's really not a necessary feature and I don't see us ever putting that into production. Then again, if there is a demand, we'll obviously comply.

I'm here to answer any questions so feel free to ask... sorry if I come across as awkward. :/

That's a really great idea! Why the hell no one thought about that before? (besides Line 6 in the digital realm hehe)
So the pots are on the pedal itself. Aren't it problematic for effects that use specific pots values?

Current rig : Agile Intrepid Pro with Lace Aluma Deathbar pickup -> Eleven Rack + TC G-Major -> ESI Near 5 Experience

We'll be using fairly "average" pot values and tapers all circuits can be used with them. Of course there may have to be a little manipulation of the original circuit to get them to work with slightly different pot values, but the difference will be negligible.

Thanks for the extra info. I was more or less joking with the Nintendo cartridge reference on your video. It really does seem like an amazing idea and, as soon as I have the funds, I'm planning on contributing.

Also, I happen to like how you come across in your videos. You're a guitar fx whiz, not a ....ing TV star.

Dang it!

It's one of those moments where I ask myself, "Why didn't I think of that?!?"

That's so cool. Hopefully she makes it look like a game console as well.

I'm not a big fuzz guy but I will get this just for the sheer coolness of it

I can see the value in something like this. The bottom tier of my pedal board is entirely fuzz/distortion and I still have quite a few pedals on the GAS list. While it's cool to show-off, it sure is a lot of real estate. A way to reduce footprint and cost per effect without completely going digital is a great idea, especially in the fuzz market (hell, even just Devi Ever's roster of effects) where there are so many offerings out there.

Exactly!

BTW, we have a bevy of pedal builders slowly showing their support for the platform. The small but growing list so far :

Devi is definitely one of the more forward thinking pedal makers out there, IMO. I hope this sells well.

I think the big question is will we end up having to blow in the thing to get if to work half the time.

I jokingly asked that on the original video. She pointed out that this type of tech has apparently come a long way. And, thinking back, I can't remember ever having issues with my Genesis or SNES even.

Atari never had issues either, it was just the moving contact system of the nes that failed compared to a simple cartridge setup.

Updated list of people interested in developing for the Console II since some people were wondering if other pedal builders were going to be involved.
