looks quality...
...i like how the grain is exposed & shows a lot of texture. I always thought Cliff getting killed instead of Lars was like John Lennon getting killed instead of Yoko - MJS how many guitars are enough? ...just one or two more!

so will the tiger series come in an 8? and if so would it be cheaper to order one of those since it has only one pickup, also what kind of finishes are you able to do? sorry for the barrage of questions they look really sick

Tiger will be the cheapest, but it depends a bit on pickup choice. Since Ninja will be equiped with passive pickups in future, I thought about keeping Blackouts in this one. I can't speak about prices yet, because I need to set some stuff with suppliers at MusikMesse and make some decisions regarding hardware in Tiger. Prices will go up a bit, current prices are special introductory in protos.
Regarding finish, it will be semi-transparent satin on alder, so it will look raw and badass - see attachment. |

i actually love this design, and really affordable stuff!
I like my guitar tone like I like my women, perfect rounded bottom end, cut in the mid section, heavy on the top end, and super tight. Omnium - Atmospheric/Trance/Ambient |

Black Ninja 8 is gone, black/red 7 is gone, all that's left is black 6-string.

My three cents, as I been there in a place where BlacKat guitars are made, I have had a look at actual builds and I am very impressed. Everything's well made, top hardware and you get this all for cheap price.. I recommend them

What's the wiring scheme on these new guitars? Looks like they're routed for both an upper-bout switch and a three-way.
"There's only one real freedom in music: freedom from the tyranny of trying to sound good." -Kenny Werner "Whatever technique you have on your instrument at any given time is always good enough to say something. If you can't find the thing to say, that's what you've got to work on." -David Torn "Don't be afraid to let go of the things you know. Defy your weaker, safer self. Create. Make music." -Sonny Sharrock "Do your thing. Follow your heart." -David Fiuczynski |

It's because of the piezo (the top one, that is). You can see the holes for it on the 6-string body.
The other one is pretty much a blend of series / parallel combos.

As Fred said - upper 3-way mini switch is for piezo/magnetic, lower switch is 5 way, I will wire them tomorrow like that:
1. Neck humbucker series 2. Neck humbucker parallel 3. Outer coils of both humbuckers parallel 4. Inner coils of both humbuckers parallel 5. Bridge humbucker series This is very versatile wiring with great sounds for higain rhythm/leads and plenty of cleans. All switch positions are also humcancelling. |

Working hard on specs and prices on production models. All prototypes (including #1) are on sale now:
1. BlacKat Ninja 6 proto black/red, serial #1, b-stock. This guitar has been abused by some people and unfortunately I've put it in a gigbag with allen wrench - result - some scratches on the sides and bottom of the body. Top is clean and is in fact very beautiful. I wanted to leave this guitar for myself, but decided to let her go. Price is € 1020 + shipping, including BlacKat gigbag, this includes 23% VAT applicable in EU countries. You can see this guitar on a lot of pictures in gallery. 2. BlacKat Ninja 6 Black - serial #2. Again - plenty of pictures on BlacKat wall. This one is mint or near mint (yeah, it has been to Messe and all...). Price is € 1070 + shipping, including BlacKat gigbag (20mm padding) 3. BlacKat Leon 6 prototype - this is the green beauty with bookmatched flamed maple top and sapele body. Deactivators wired with 5-way switch for plenty of beautiful clean tones + GraphTech piezo. Price is € 1850 + shipping + free gigbag 4. BlacKat Limited 7 proto - this is somewhat different, contains Meranti White body with 2cm quilted maple top, mahogany neck with ebony fretboard, graphtech piezo and DiMarzio Crunchlab/Liqufire combo. Wiring is the same as in Leon. Perfect singlecut for DT fan. I actually feel attached to this guitar, but someone can disattach me . I need to warn you though - it has some minor finish flaws on the back of the body. Price is €1800 (because of finish flaws), including gigbag. Non EU Customers (especially US customers) - VAT is not applicable to you, so you should divide prices by 1.23 to get your net prices. Can't post more pictures, because the guitars are still on their way to Blackat headquarters after MusikMesse, and will get them on thursday. |

Those prices are direct to consumers. Have in mind that these are not prices for production models, but prototypes. Ninja will be a bit more expensive in production, Leon should be more or less the same. There is also Tiger model in the works, that will be sibling to Ninja. I decided to drop "cheap" model completely, because I'd have to compromise a lot of features that make BlacKat a quality instrument. I also think about offering Leon model without piezo pickup, since not everyone digs it and needs it.
