Baphomet Warlock Neckthru Project
mod edit: since you're trying to do this commercially ALL information about your builds, including sound clip videos etc needs to go in the Dealers section
Hey guys. I'm new to this forum but known on the B.C. Rich forum so hi to anyone from over there. Since I'm new I figured i'd introduce myself with a few pics of my last "finished" build. Got a few others on the go at the moment but this is the last one I managed to finish and get playing. Specs: Queensland Maple neckthru Tasmanian Blackwood wings Rosewood headstock cap Ebony fingerboard with 25" scale, 16" radius X2N and Area 61 pickups Gotoh floyd and super rotomatic tuners Fingerboard and neck blanks. Ebony and Queensland maple. Pics taken on a planer but I actually used a Jointer to straighten them. Don't buy one of these cheapo planers, they are useless. Mines packed up now and being used as a stand for stuff! ![]() Here you can see the lamination of the Queensland maple to the Tasmanian Blackwood. The pine is only there as a medium between the clamps and the timber so I don't get clamp marks. It also helps distribute the pressure. ![]() Laminating more Qld Maple for the headstock. ![]() Rough cut for the neck ![]() After a rough cut of the body: ![]() After some routing (which I had to re do later on, but we'll get to that: ![]() This is how I used to do truss rods slots. I use a router table now, but this jig still comes in handy, especially if say you cant get a neck onto a table I can clamp this down over the top. ![]() After the guitar was finished I sprayed in a real nice transparent Tobacco Burst. First Burst I've ever attempted so I was pretty happy with it give or take a few imperfections. There was a few problems though once I got to the setup stage: I was stupid and used a cheap truss rod and it rounded out so I couldn't even set up the guitar, so I had to remove the board and install a top quality one (I only use Allied Lutherie rods now). Then when I installed the fretboard the second time it slipped back a little and I didnt notice till it was too late, thatts why you can see a bit of brass shim where the nut is... the fingerboard originally filled that space. Yeah, it made me mad! So it meant I had repair the bridge area which had some other issues (I made this body thinner than a usual warlcok and the floyd posts were splitting the thin timber around the extra deep route I was experimenting with, so I cut out the whole section and installed a block of mahogany and started that area from scratch with a not so deep route and more meat around the posts and corrected the 25" bridge mount to make up for the fingerboard lamianation stuff up. ![]() So heres the repair: ![]() With a heatgun and paint scraper I stripped this one and heres what it'll look like prior to sanding. It's pretty ugly, but it's quick and easy. ![]() It was at this stage that I decided to tidy up a few other things that were bothering me, like the binding and the electronics. I pulled out the Moser active circuit and rewired as a two way selector passive circuit. I never use both pickups at once, never, so I figured why bother wiring it up to do so. Turned out the 2 way switch I bought was a dud and I ended out installing a 3 way I had here anyway! In primer: ![]() In black base coat: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Big Warlock fan to begin with so I definetly love it. Really curious about the tonalities of those wood species.

Damn, that turned out really nice. Love the Baphomet paint job. Not a big fan of those style of tuners but it does give it a classy look, especially with the inlays.

One of my aims with this version/paintjob was to have a classic/classy fingerboard, headstock blend back into a body which is just pure aggressive, but to somehow get it to all "just work" together withou looking wrong. I used Marblizer in the paint job with a candy 2k over the top to give it a smeared blood graphic without trying to look like everyone elses blood paint jobs. I've always loved the Baphomet logo and it just seemed to work with the Warlock body shape which is one of my all time favorites. |

Like I've said when you posted it on the Shredder, awesome paintjob. I still love your logo, too. Looks real good as an inlay.

Thanks. I've got another project in the works at the moment that will be using the same logo but as part of the gfx on the body. Can't wait to finish it but just don't get the spare time I'd like. You guys will see it when it's done though!

That inlay on the headstock is Amazing. I really did the paint job too. I have to ask though, what do all the mini toggles etc. do?

Mini toggle switches: This guitar was first built using one of Neal Moser's warlock booster circuits which is a upgrade from the vintage BC Rich circuit he designed for them in the 70's and changed for the warlock in the 80's. The three in a row are coil splitters and there's one in the center that activates the active booster (9v power) which is like a raw distortion. This is it here: http://www.nealmoserguitars.com/inde...roducts_id=367 I ended out deciding I didn't like this circuit for this guitar and sold it for half price on the BCR forum and all the switches in there at the moment apart from the selector are just to fill the holes. |

Why three splitters if you have two pickups? Why not just use a push pull? (other than mini toggles look badass of course haha)

Sorry for the bump, but I just saw this thread. You are a master of paint finishes! Super cool work on this one (as with the orange one).

To whatever mod moved this, I have stated quite clearly I am not doing this commercially, I am not building guitars at this stage for anyone but myself. This build is MY personal player as have all my other builds been

You stated publicly that you're doing pre-promotion with the intent to start selling builds in the future, so your builds go in dealers. Especially given you've got this guitar listed for sale on other forums.
Incoming It's a surprise

Ok, I can see your reasoning if it's on the basis of "pre promotion", but in reality I am several years off ever making a guitar for a customer. With that said though I guess everyone who makes a guitar and has dreams of being a luthier is pre promoting somewhat. I don't want to argue with you, I just want to keep the peace!
On a side note, none of the guitars made by me, this warlock included have EVER been advertised for sale anywhere, on the Internet or in person, so if you have seen this guitar advertised for sale then someone has stolen my pics and is attempting fraud as it is not me. This guitar is in my possession, in fact I was playing it yesterday. |
