Neck rough cut.

I need a new band saw. It likes to drift, a lot.

Sanded

Hopefully I'm going to build a radius block and attach the fret board tonight.

Lots-a-pics!

Nut Blank out of Delrin

I may make a new one, this was just to align the fret board.

Now I make this BuildYourGuitar.com :: Guitar Building Tips

16 inch Radius, 4" by 10"

No boo-boos here!

Now to attach

Staple!

Silicone!

Masked off

Glued'dd (Sorry for the blur, working with glue so had to get pictures fast)

Masking tape removed.

Clamped.

Now I wait for tomorrow, might get that Aftermath at the axe palace if its not gone already.

Ah, I think it's awesome that you chose delrin for the nut. Hard enough, plenty stable, and has low friction.... it even machines pretty well.

I might have to give it a try and maybe change the nut on my 7...

shit..... ((

i would recommend to seal the holes up with 10mm wooden cylinders and then re drill your holes in the right position.
also veneer would help to hide the imperfection.

I'm going to paint this surface white, so veneer may not be necessarily.
I have another solution tho, Instead of messing with the holes, I'm going to add material.

i am not sure what do you mean with adding material but the paint alone might not help i am talking from experience. you will use sealer/filler sand it down flat and even do it again then prime coat then the main coat and the F-ing holes notches will be still visible.

Thanks for the tips. I'm going to fill all the gaps and make sure the surface is smooth.

Can anyone give advice on a white finish? I don't know what to put under or in nitro lacquer to get an opaque white finish.

I still don't know what to do to achieve an opaque white finish, any recommendations?

Glow in the dark Side dots.

Fret time!

Masked off ready for leveling and work.

Super flat industrial machine rail, with some 600 Grit Paper 3M'ed on

I erased black marks from the maple that came from my hands after fret work.
This eraser is awesome!

Stewmac and Guitar reranch both sell pigment for nitro in white. You would be able to achieve a pretty opaque finish with enough coats. You could also go with a premixed white automotive lacquer over a primer. Basically you are making a hard white paint which uses nitro as the binder.

Oakland Axe Factory uses Octave4Plus custom strings, Dimarzio and Lace pickups, Hipshot Hardware and Graphtech saddles.

To get Opaque white you are probably going to need to go with a white primer coat.

Yep, this:

STEWMAC.COM : ColorTone Liquid Pigment for Lacquer

In white. It's what I'm using for a trans white finish on an ash body right now. With enough pigment in the lacquer or enough coats it becomes solid white.
