its actually steel channel, i couldnt find any aluminium 1x1 so i just had to make do. ill have to put it under more tension but its alot stronger than aluminium. i made a gibson type before that one that was alot better but too bit unfortunately and thanks alot! its really coming on and i hope i dont lose momentum with it.

and thanks! i am reallly enjoying it! and yess ill take a few more on monday. that lot sound absolutely epic. a 6 string fanned fret will be a realy headturner. what kind of body shapes did you have in mind?
Oh! good news by the way, im staying in school next year to be a classroom assistant type jobby in return for free materials and tools! win! that means lots of silly projects ill put up on here.

my bike is just a yamaha 125, dirt bike
i have back problems so i dont ride anymore, which is a shame.

the money will go towards some final bits of mahinery for my workshop, steel templates, and some more hardware and tools, so its all good

fanned frets look pretty cool,
im just trying to figure out how to go about making the bridge at the moment, once i get that sorted i will get started

hmm body shapes....
well i personally like SS shapes, being an ibanez player for 10 years or so, i have come to appreciate a light, comfortable guitar body
so i try to design my bodies with size and comfort in mind

people are whinging that i need to do atleast one singlecut... so i have been trying to come up with a design...
but since i dont like single cuts (uncomfy imo) its proving hard to design one....
i guess im just not a singlecut kind of guy

classroom assistant sounds sweet, anything involving free access to materials and tools is win

yeah fanned frets are so awesome. mind you one has to be careful what one says about them nowadays, might get sued for copyright infringement
and yeah S series bodies are soooo so so nice. dont get all the hype with RGs. Perhaps a hybrid of the two would be cool - like horns similar to an RG and bevels and back end like an S.
and yeah i hate singlecuts too. wouldnt want one for myself!

i took a couple today but they arent really anything special, just the start of the shit-scary realm of if-i-....-this-cut-up-i-will-actually-kill-myself.

Are you talking about the EXPIRED Novax patent?

1. Novax's patent EXPIRED years ago
2. The Novax patent NEVER covered the concept of compound-scaled, aka multi-scaled, aka splayed-fret, aka waterfall-frets, aka fanned-frets.
3. The Novax patent only covered a flawed method for laying-out the frets. It only worked correctly with parallel-sided fretboards.
4. Novax NEVER taught his "patented" method for laying out the frets. Anybody who payed the bogus licensing fee was taught the parallel scale method of laying out frets.
5. Novax does have a valid trademark on the term "Fanned Frets".
6. Novax did have an aggressive business manager that bullied/extorted licensing fees from luthiers via the threat of litigation.

That said, the ONLY thing that Novax & Company could do is sue you for trademark violation, if you sold guitars with compound-scaled, aka multi-scaled, aka splayed-fret, aka waterfall-frets and you called them "Fanned Frets".
