very cool write-up, there. i haven't had any microphonics with my magnet-swapped pickups, but good to know what i'll need to do if i do. do you unwrap the pickup tape or take the baseplates off or anything, or just dunk them whole?

Zepp, if you pickups are humming, potting won't change that. it'll only help with microphonics, like the squeally feedback that DW mentioned.

The MPF on my pups is pretty minimal, Scott, but I'm a perfectionist.

No removing of the baseplate. Removing the tape is optional, which I plan to do. I've seen write-ups where they wrap some rubber bands around the pickup, to keep everything tight. I plan on doing that as well.

This also works well for old pickups. As pickups don't have mechanical parts, there's no reason why they shouldn't last years and years.

wow, i'm ALOT lazier in my magnet swapping than TDW

. i just loosen the baseplate screws, slide old magnet out, slide new one in, tighten screws, done!
the pickups i've done don't seem any different than before (noise wise), but like others have said, the potting technique is much appreciated if i ever run into problems.

post office was a friggin' zoo, so i don't know how long they'll take to arrive, but maybe hopefully for those of you on the east coast it will be sometime this week.

i do have two more that were claimed but haven't been paid for. edit: these two have now been paid for, so there are no more extras.

to all for going in on these orders so i could get get magnets for myself!
