N4G.com : E3: Final Fantasy XIII coming to the Xbox 360
Yet another nail in the ps3's coffin. Final Fantasy 13 has jumped exclusivity from the PS3. From what it seems however the two spinoffs of FF13 shall stay exclusive to the ps3 (Versus, and that other one)
Even still, this means Final Fantasy XIII is now playable to us 360 owners.
Which means its time to party

Cool news for 360 owners, but pretty lame in general now they have to develop it for a storage medium that is far inferior to the PS3's Blueray, which might not matter for other cross platform games like BF:BC, Burnout, Grid etc. but for FF which many hoped had the potential of being absolutely huge (like we've come to expect from FF), with a serious amount of cut-scenes, other dialouge and whatnot - anything to make use of the disc capacity - well, now they have to fit it all onto a DVD or two...great.

And "nail in PS3s coffin?"... I doubt it man, the PS3 is looking stronger than it ever has at the moment.

360s line-up just got much better though, should strengthen their year quite a bit, FF is a big title.

Hashimoto: “As we announced at the Microsoft presentation, as of today we are ready to start developing the title for Xbox 360. First, we will complete the PS3 in Japan. Then after that we will start localization of ‘FFXIII’ for PS3 for US and Europe. Then at the same time, we will start Xbox 360 the version development. That’s our entire process of development.

So it'll either be scaled down or spread across multiple discs for the 360 release.

While I don't care about FF13, I do think it's funny that so many of the assertions made about this generation of consoles have turned out to be so wrong. The PS3 was supposed to be the hardcore RPG console and the Wii was supposed to fail horribly. Microsoft are still pissing people off though, so all is as it should be

That was devastating, and very, very low from Screw-Enix. Though I saw this happening with the other titles from SE that were in development for the 360.

Though I don't understand the port in the first place (Aside from sales), I have a big feeling its going to be quite watered down to what it could really be.

I will almost guarantee you the game will be EXACTLY the same, minus uncompressed audio, the ps3 and xbox 360 are almost identical in terms of power, with the ps3 on slightly better in terms of cpu *also makes the ps3 stupidly difficult to code for thank you cell processor*

I love both systems but sony just lost a MASSIVE exclusive, should be interesting to see what they pull out at e3, I think there conference is on weds.

"Devastating"? Didn't your parents ever teach you the value of sharing? The 360 version is US-exclusive, from what I've read, so it's not like Japan or Europe (ie the regions with a decent PS3 install base) will have much choice in the matter.

My drummer was talking about this earlier today. This news confused me. The last I had heard, I thought they were making a huge deal about how they were going to do this on the PS3 because the superior hardware would allow them to do things with the game they wouldn't be able to do on the Wii or 360. I wonder if Microsoft bought them out for exclusivity like they do with every other big name they're able to. The only thing I really have against the 360 is Microsoft's business practices in this respect. If you want to get ahead in the console race, do it by making what you have to offer better instead of throwing money at 3rd party developers to screw over the competitors.
