Final fantasy

Is there any fan of the final fantasy games on this forum? I just love them and love disscussing things :P. My favorite one of the ones Ive played is probably FF 8. Whats yours?

Oh, and I just cant wait til FF12 is released.

I like 3, 4, 5 and 7...I don't actually think I have ever played 6...3 was released as 6 in the US...

VII rules though, it seriously kicks ass.

Naren will kill me, but I loved ffVIII about 10 times more than ffVII

Though ffVII still kicked ass. ffIX I didn't care for. ffX was pretty sweet. Mainly the graphic jump with the ps2. never played ffX-2, and haven't played a whole lot of ffXI.

ffvii is quite possibly the best rpg i've ever played.
it rocks hard.

never could beat any of the weapons though, that sucked.
any tips?

FFX is pretty fun, never was able to play it enough because I know 1 guy who has it, lol. I personally own FFVII and FFIX but haven't ever played IX, lol. I need to get a PS2.

My rating system for Final Fantasy goes something like this. #1. FF7 #2. FF6 #3. FF10 #4. FF12 #5. FF5 #6. FF9 #7. FF4 #8. FF11 #9. FF3 #10. FF2 #11. FF1 #12. FF8.

I really really really hated FF8 and I thought FF1 was a boring game with absolutely no storyline (which is the #1 reason I play Final Fantasy games. The storyline). I didn't put any of the "gaiden" Final Fantasys on there (like FF Tactics. FF Mystic Quest, or FF10-2, but 10-2 really sucked, even though 10 was amazing...) The ones I think are masterpieces are FF7, 6, 10, and 12.

I actually like Final Fantasy Adventure III (for game boy). The other gameboy ones were so-so, but still better than most gameboy games.

hahaha yeah, the gameboy has more terrible games than any other system, but I'm talking about the original here and they've been making ones for it for what, 14 years? So it wins by default, lol.

I like the pokemon games, never played Adventure III though, Mystic Quest never caught my fancy when I tried it so I kinda just breezed by them all.

It was called Final Fantasy because it was Square Softs last chance at making it as a company. Every game they had made before then had beena commercial flop.

I guess you could say that. Before Final Fantasy, they had only made like 1 or 2 other RPGs. Almost all of their games were action games. I was actually looking through a Japanese old history of Squaresoft games and the company started sometime around like 1978 or so and made games for like 4 different systems before the Famikon (NES) came out in like 1984 or so. The first few games did so-so, but before FF, the games weren't doing too well.

However, I don't think it was called "Final Fantasy" because it was their last chance at making it as a company. It was their first fantasy game, but I think storylinewise, they meant it was "final." Most of the FF games deal with the end of the world in a fantasy setting. Sure, they weren't planning a sequel, but since it did really well in both Japan and the US (it was the first game they localized), they made two sequels, FF2 and FF3, neither of which were localized to the US. Then when SNES came out, they made FF4 for it, which was localized to the US (as FF2).

Meh, that's what one of the creators said on "Icons".

I did take it a little out of context though, he said something more along the lines of "the title was appropriate, because in a way this was the company's final fantasy as well"

Well now that i have a core duo 2ghz laptop and the psx2 emu runs smooth, i think i'm gonna try FF10. I heard it's a very good game

Final Fantasy XII is released on Halloween this year. Ill be locked in my room with it for a good solid day before I see sunlight so I'll post a review once im a good bits into it.
