I'm using a 4400+ with an nForce board. The only issue I seem to have with it is that I have problems with the network controller seeingly corrupt downloads of large files which is a nuisance.
Do you have a link to a website with the known "issues" of the nForce4? |

I'd personally go for the Via chipset. I've always had great luck with them and all the computers I've built for friends.

Isnt the next Amd 64 x2 going to have the FX built into it?
I have a Amd 64 FX 55 right now (got it very cheap with a nforce 4 mobo from a deal at work) I tryed the new X2 chips and i didnt notice to much of a diffrence on the apps i was running, but then aggain they werent dual core apps. Only thing i can say is stay away from the pentuim D. It got bad review from MAX PC |

I've been running an x2 for a few months, and to be honest, the only way you are going to see any difference is by rtunning several apps at once, ones that use threading heavily.
Having said that, it switches easily from appp to app, and it's much smoother running several at tyhe same time. XP is still shit though, although compared to ME nothing is bad, and hence MS must think they've made a massive achievement... As far as performance goes, I wouldn't see much benefit in running something like NUENDO on a diual core unless they optimise it for it. I've also been reading up about the nForce4 problems, and it seems that there are solutions and that it's bought about my mixtures of hardware. Actually reading about it solved my download problem! Next thing for me to foolishly try and do is to update the firmware on my drives.... Quote:
